FSSAI Licence for Ecommerce and Online Food Sellers

Selling packaged snacks, spices, sweets, or meal kits online still counts as a food business. Marketplaces and payment partners increasingly ask for a valid FSSAI number.

Who needs it. Private-label brands, dark-kitchen D2C sellers, Instagram bakers shipping pan-India, and traders listing on Amazon/Flipkart food categories.

Which tier. Most early D2C brands start with Basic (≤ ₹1.5 Crore turnover). Multi-state fulfilment, import of ingredients, or large turnover can push State or Central, confirm with Basic vs State vs Central.
